Friends of the Foundation
The Dearborn Community Foundation, Inc. (DCF) periodically recognizes
individuals, organizations or businesses that are strong supporters of
the Foundation. In 2009 four different organizations were honored as
Friends of the Foundation:
2009 Friends Of The Foundation Honorees

Aurora Public Library District
in the spring of 2008 decided to establish the Aurora Public
Library District Fund to support the district’s operations. Library
district director Mary Alice Horton was thinking of the future and how
an endowment could support needs of the library district. The library
district has also assisted the Foundation for many years through the use
of the library display areas for a way to disseminate our messages to
the community.

Dillsboro Volunteer Fire Department
like many organizations in our community receives contributions from the
community from time to time. In the spring of 2008, the fire department
decided to utilize some of those donations to establish the Dillsboro
Fire Department Fund. The endowment fund is the first established at the
Foundation by a fire department.

Main Street Aurora, Inc.
established the Main Street Aurora Trail Fund in 2008 to support the
Dearborn Trails. Main Street Aurora saw a need to provide for future
upkeep of the popular recreational trail in their community, so they
established the endowment fund. Main Street Aurora also has an endowment
it established several years ago to support the organization’s
operations.

South Dearborn Dollars for Scholars
has raised funds for and awarded thousands and thousands of dollars in
scholarships over the years. Several years ago the organization
established an endowment at the Foundation to support Dollars for
Scholars. But the organizations leadership has
not stopped with one endowment for future scholarships. Since that first
endowment was created, they have worked with Dollars for Scholars donors
and DCF to establish five more endowments for a total of six.
