DEARBORN COMMUNITY FOUNDATION SEEKS HEART OF GOLD NOMINATIONS
LAWRENCEBURG, Ind., September 19, 2007 – The Dearborn Community Foundation, Inc., is accepting nominations for the prestigious Heart of Gold Awards that recognize Dearborn Countians who touch the hearts of others through their volunteerism and other acts of kindness.
Anyone who gives of themselves unselfishly to serve others, collectively or individually, with volunteer acts above and beyond their profession is eligible to be nominated, said Fred McCarter, Executive Director of the Dearborn Community Foundation. “This is a great opportunity to recognize volunteers that make a difference in our community and at the same time encourage philanthropy,” he said.
A Dearborn Community Foundation selection committee will choose Heart of Gold recipients from the nominations received by October 12, 2007. Each Heart of Gold recipient will be presented with a heart-shaped medallion and a certificate of recognition at a reception scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 7, at the Dearborn Adult Center in Lawrenceburg. These honorees will have the privilege of helping to award a total of $5,000 in grants to non-profit organizations in Dearborn County.
Heart of Gold recipients have been recognized for helping senior citizens or disadvantaged persons, working to improve the quality of education, expanding recreational or cultural opportunities, working with children, protecting the environment, promoting public safety and unusual acts of kindness.
