CHERYL WESSEL NAMED ACCOUNTANT AT DCF
LAWRENCEBURG, INDIANA, DECEMBER 5, 2007 – Cheryl Wessel of Aurora recently was named Accountant at the Dearborn Community Foundation, Inc. (DCF).
Wessel has 27 years of accounting and tax experience and has been a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) for 24 years. Her accounting experience covers a broad range of fields including many non-profit organizations. Most recently, she has been providing tax and accounting services for several Dearborn County non-profit organizations including Hillforest Historical Foundation, South Dearborn Swimming, and Dillsboro Summer Recreation League.
Wessel also has operated her own tax/accounting business which, along with her volunteer accounting work, has enabled her to interact with many people in Dearborn County, said Fred McCarter, Executive Director of DCF. “Cheryl’s involvement in the community, her accounting experience with non-profit organizations and her excellent communication skills made her an extraordinary good fit for this position,” he said.
Wessel’s accounting experience, however, goes well beyond her work with charitable organizations, McCarter said. She served as both a staff accountant and accounting specialist during 10 years at Cincinnati Bell Inc., where her responsibilities ranged from completing monthly financial reporting and special reporting for Cincinnati Bell Inc. subsidiaries to completing SEC financial reporting (Annual Report, 10-K and 10-Qs) and quarterly financial report press releases.
“To say the least, Cheryl’s experience is impressive,” McCarter said. “The Foundation is very fortunate to have her on our team.”
Among Wessel’s responsibilities at the Foundation are multiple fund accounting, payroll administration and financial reporting.
Wessel said she’s already enjoying her time at the Foundation. “I am very happy to join the Dearborn Community Foundation staff,” she said. “It is personally fulfilling to be a part of an organization that makes such a positive impact in the community. I look forward meeting the many demands of the job with hard work and enthusiasm.”
Wessel is a volunteer with the following organizations in Dearborn County: St. Mary’s Parish of Aurora, South Dearborn Swimming, and St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry.
Wessel has a BA in Accounting an Associate Degree in Computer Science both from Thomas More College. Graduated Magna Cum Laude from Thomas More in 1982. She resides in Aurora with her husband, John, and two daughters Elizabeth, a freshman at South Dearborn High School, and Rebecca, a freshman at Franciscan University of Steubenville in Steubenville, Ohio.
