DCF INDUCTS FOUR
INTO LEGACY SOCIETY

Lawrenceburg, Ind., February 24, 2009 – The Dearborn Community Foundation, Inc., (DCF) recently inducted four new members into its Legacy Society to recognize the individuals’ dedicated effort to invest in the Dearborn County community through charitable endowment.

The 2008 DCF Legacy Society inductees are Luella Dixon, Jeanne Lehn, and Luree and Doug Ketcham. The Four new members bring the Foundation’s Legacy Society membership to a total of 52 members over the last 11 years. Each of the 52 Legacy Society members has contributed a significant endowment at DCF to support charitable needs in our community. Some have established scholarship funds, while others have established donor-advised funds so that they can recommend grants to a different charity to support with income from the endowment each year. Some select a specific charity to receive income from the endowment each year.

“Legacy Society members have chosen to make a difference in our community today, knowing that their gifts will continue to give tomorrow and forever into the future,” said Fred McCarter, DCF Executive Director. “They have created charitable legacies that others can and will help grow through additional contributions.”

Luella Dixon of Miller Township established the Dixon-Andrews Fund in the summer of 2007 to provide operational support to the Dearborn Community Foundation. Luella wanted to make a difference in her community by supporting the good works of the Foundation through a designated endowment. The “Andrews” in the fund name is Luella’s maiden name.

Jeanne Lehn of Lawrenceburg Township established the Gerry Lehn Memorial Scholarship Fund in the Fall of 2007 to provide scholarships to Lawrenceburg High School students. The scholarship was established by Jeanne Lehn in memory of her husband Gerry, who died following a lung transplant in October 2007. Gerry and Jeanne’s three sons were all active in Lawrenceburg High School athletics, and Gerry was a constant presence on the sidelines with camera in hand. Throughout the years, Gerry was a youth coach and an avid fan, with a special place in his heart for athletes who, regardless of their talent level, played with heart. The scholarship honors a student demonstrating the attributes that brought joy to Gerry.

Luree and Doug Ketcham of Bright established the North Dearborn Pantry Fund in November 2007 to provide support to the organization’s efforts to improve the lives of those in need. The Ketcham’s hope is that establishment of this fund will encourage others to contribute to the endowment so the pantry will have financial support in perpetuity. Their goal was to help ensure the pantry’s relief programs for Northern Dearborn County’s residents continue far into the future.

The Dearborn Community Foundation, Inc., is a catalyst to connect people who care with causes that improve the quality of life in our community by advancing cultural, educational and social opportunities, while preserving our community’s heritage and helping donors to create a permanent legacy in Dearborn County.
