DONORS CAN DOUBLE DONATIONS

TO DCF DURING MATCHING PROGRAM

LAWRENCEBURG, Ind., April 14, 2009 – For the second straight year, the Dearborn Community Foundation (DCF), Inc. is offering an endowment matching program, called Double Your Donation. Contributions to new or existing endowment funds will be matched $1-for-$1 during the matching program.

“We are proud to be able to offer the Double Your Donation endowment matching program for the second straight year,” said Fred McCarter, DCF Executive Director. “Our hope is this unique opportunity will encourage more individuals, organizations and businesses in our community to participate in philanthropy through endowment at the Foundation. What better way to involve more folks in philanthropy than by matching their contributions to endowments that support their favorite cause or provide a scholarship to a student?”

This is the second straight year DCF has offered the Double Your Donation endowment matching program. In 2008, the highly successful program offered $275,000 in matching funds, which were matched in just 11 days in early April. Thanks to the of the City of Lawrenceburg and Dearborn County Council, the Foundation has set aside $150,000 for the Double Your Donation endowment matching program in 2009.

Beginning May 1, 2009, the Foundation will match contributions to new or existing endowments $1-for-$1 up to a maximum of $10,000 per donor. It’s important to note contributions will be matched on a first-come, first-served basis as long as matching funds are available. Donations cannot be matched until the May 1 start of the program.

Established in December 1997, members of the community have been turning to Dearborn Community Foundation for more than 11 years now to make their philanthropic dreams come true. DCF, a 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt public charity, helps donors’ dreams come true by safeguarding endowments for the community through contributions large and small. The contributions to charitable endowment funds are permanently invested to produce earnings that are used to make a difference in our community through grants to various charitable agencies and projects in our community now and forever. Grants awarded by DCF support the needs and interests in Dearborn County in the fields of community service, social service, education, health, environment and the arts. In early January 2009, DCF received the nation’s highest philanthropic standards for operational quality, integrity and accountability: the seal of approval from the National Standards for U.S. Community Foundations Program operated by the Council on Foundations, a national professional association based in Washington, D.C.

In 11 years, DCF’s endowment funds have grown to number more than 70. Thanks to the generosity of contributors, the Foundation has awarded a total of more than $12 million in grants and scholarships through endowment funds and non-endowed programs in its 11-year history.
