UCB CHARITABLE FOUNDATION, ARGOSY CASINO PRESENTING SPONSORS FOR DCF GOLF OUTING
Golfers Can Challenge Member of Big Red Machine – George Foster
LAWRENCEBURG, IND., August 7, 2007 – Dearborn Community Foundation announced today that UCB Charitable Foundation and Argosy Casino & Hotel are the “Presenting Sponsors” for the Foundation’s 6th Annual Golf Scramble slated for Monday, August 27, at Hidden Valley Golf Club.
“We appreciate the support of both UCB Charitable Foundation and Argosy Casino & Hotel,” said Fred McCarter, Executive Director of the Dearborn Community Foundation. “Both of these organizations as well as our other sponsors provide fine examples of philanthropy in our community.”
Sponsors for the DCF golf outing are:
Presenting Sponsors: UCB Charitable Foundation and Argosy Casino & Hotel
Course Sponsor: The Rupel Family & Hidden Valley Golf Club
Event Sponsors: Aurora Lions Club and Gerald & Dorothy Nixon
Food & Beverage Sponsors: Carousel Cleaners, Clifton Gunderson Financial Services, Friendship State Bank and Pinnacle Advisory Group
DCF golf scramble participants can take a shot at out-golfing Big Red Machine member and 1977 National League MVP George Foster, “The Destroyer,” while making a difference in the community by supporting the Foundation.
Outing participants can challenge Foster, nicknamed “The Destroyer” for his home run slugging ability, while making a difference in the community by supporting the Foundation. Each golfer will have a chance to challenge Foster for closest to the pin on a Par 3 hole during the event. Any golfer who beats the former Reds left fielder receives a George Foster autographed baseball.
“We are gratified that George Foster would agree to make a difference in Dearborn County by supporting the Foundation through our golf outing,” said Fred McCarter, Executive Director of the Dearborn Community Foundation. “This is more than a chance to challenge George on a Par 3. It’s a chance to meet a five-time Major League All-Star and the Reds record holder for the most home runs in a single season (52 in 1977). George also is a fine example of someone who gives back to his community through his charitable work with youth baseball and more.”
The proceeds of the Aug. 27 golf outing support DCF’s mission to create a permanent legacy through endowed grant and scholarship programs that forever give back to the Dearborn County community, McCarter said.
The DCF golf outing event day registration is Noon with a 1 p.m. shotgun start on August 27. An awards dinner with prize drawings will follow play in the Hidden Valley Golf Club Clubhouse.
Golfers can participate in the event by paying a $100 per player registration fee or $400 for a foursome. The Foundation is also seeking Hole Sponsors and Door Prize Sponsors for the golf fund-raiser. A hole sponsorship is $100 per hole. Anyone wishing to play in the event, purchase a hole sponsorship or donate a door prize can call the Foundation at 812-539-4115, email at dcf@comcast.net, or stop by and pick up a registration-sponsorship form at the DCF office at 204 Short Street, Lawrenceburg. #########
