Ivy Tech Community College Educational Grant Program

The Dearborn Community Foundation, Inc. has chosen to encourage Dearborn
County residents to improve their levels of educational attainment locally.
Educational grants in the amounts of $800 will be awarded to up to five
continuing Ivy Tech State College students. The grant must be used within two years from the time that it is awarded. The educational grant will be applied to tuition fees and will be paid directly to Ivy Tech Community College. With just cause, as determined by the DCF board of directors, failure to complete the courses taken with a passing grade and to meet the scholarship requirements will result in the need for the student to pay back the grant received or will
result in the revocation of remaining grant funds. The Foundation actively
seeks to promote access, equity and diversity, and to avoid discrimination
based on race, ethnicity, gender, disability or age.

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Must be a resident of Dearborn County;
  2. Must have received an accredited Indiana high school diploma or a GED equivalent no later than June 30, 2008;
  3. Must be currently enrolled at Ivy Tech Community College and have completed a Financial Aid Form for Student Assistance (FAFSA);
  4. Must be seeking an Associate Degree or Technical Certificate;
  5. Must not have previously received a Dearborn Community Foundation Ivy Tech Community College Educational Grant;
  6. Must disclose if you have ever been arrested, charged with or convicted of a crime on a separate sheet of paper; and
  7. Completed application must be received in the Dearborn Community Foundation office no later than noon, Monday, October 27, 2008.

Evaluation Process:

  1. Applications will be reviewed for completeness and professionalism and to ensure that the aforementioned criteria have been met;
  2. The scholarship committee will read and score your answer to the essay question;
  3. The scholarship committee will also score the financial need section of the application;
  4. The essay scores and your calculated unmet financial need will be used to select the recipients;
  5. Decisions will be announced on or before Friday, November 21, 2008.
