LAWRENCEBURG, Ind., December 5, 2024 – The Dearborn Community Foundation (DCF), Inc. recently awarded a $1,000 Proactive Grant to St. Elizabeth Healthcare’s new Dearborn Cancer Center in Greendale.
In its 26th year of helping donors make a difference, DCF is awarding 15 proactive grants of $1,000 each throughout 2024 to charitable organizations that serve Dearborn County residents. Each of the Foundation’s 15 volunteer Board members is recommending a grant. The money comes from the Foundation’s Unrestricted Endowment Funds, established by donors to provide flexibility to address changing needs in the community over the years.
DCF Board member Casey Finnegan recommended the grant because he wanted to support the good work done by St. Elizabeth’s Dearborn Cancer Center’s staff to help folks in treatment.
“I’ve had a few friends my age the last few years that have been diagnosed with cancer and some have passed away,” said Finnegan. “I know the staff, the nurses they all do a great job helping people through tough times.”
Finnegan also said his father Bob Finnegan recently was diagnosed with cancer and has received treatment at the new cancer center, he said. “Going over there, you see so many familiar faces going through treatment. I know the staff is great with patients, and I wanted to help with the grant.”
