LAWRENCEBURG, Ind., DECEMBER 4, 2025 – A $1,000 Dearborn Community Foundation grant was recently awarded to Dillsboro Elementary School to help faculty address some students’ food insecurities and need for basic hygiene and clothing.

The grant was recommended by DCF Board member Casey Finnegan, a former Dillsboro Elementary student, as a part of the Foundation’s annual program, through which each of the organization’s 15 volunteer board members recommends a $1,000 grant.
The grants to charitable organizations that serve Dearborn County residents are funded through Unrestricted Endowment Funds, established by donors to provide flexibility to address changing needs in the community over the years.
“The school has a need to help children with basic hygiene care kits, different articles of clothing, meal supplements, and other needs,” said Finnegan. “I want this grant to hep the students worry less about these needs and focus more on the learning aspects of school.”
Finnegan says the Dillsboro school’s faculty always puts the needs of students before anything else. “I admire the dedication and hard work that the faculty at Dillsboro displays on a daily basis and I wanted to help them address student needs,” he said.
The $1,000 grant will help supplement other programs already in place to help fulfill student needs.
Anyone can make contributions to an unrestricted DCF endowment to help make impact grants like the 15 DCF Board members are recommending in 2025.
