LAWRENCEBURG, Ind., DECEMBER 10, 2025 – Dearborn Community Foundation Board member Linda Gellert recently recommended $1,000 grant to the Miller-York Volunteer Fire Department through the annual DCF program that aids charitable and volunteer organizations that serve Dearborn County.

“This donation will help with the general needs of the fire department. The donation is in sincere appreciation for the all-volunteer fire department serving the needs of a large rural area,” said Gellert.

Formed in 1960, Miller-York Volunteer Fire Department serves Miller, York and Logan townships. Its headquarters is in Guilford. The department’s mission is to protect and safeguard these communities by providing emergency fire and rescue services. 

The department relies on the dedication and selflessness of its volunteers, who contribute their time and skills to ensure the well-being of their community.

“We often see how these first-on-the scene volunteers work for our rural communities,” said Gellert.

The fire department received the grant as part of the yearly program, through which each of 15 volunteer board members select a cause near and dear to their hearts. The DCF grants are funded through Unrestricted Endowment Funds, established by donors to provide flexibility as community needs change throughout the years.
